Jewellery – Metal texturing and three dimensional forming.
13th -16th November 2025
Beginners/Intermediate
I am really excited to be teaching my first course at West Dean this November. Nestled in the stunning Sussex countryside, taking a course at West Dean is a truly unique experience. Immerse yourself learning new skills on this exciting new course in the wonderful jewellery workshop at West Dean, stay 3 nights in the beautiful manor house house with full board available and spend any spare time exploring the stunning gardens and grounds. The course is suitable for complete beginners and intermediates.
The course is intended to inspire you to think three-dimensionally about jewellery making and designing, taking you away from just flat, cut out metal shapes. You will also learn about the techniques of metal texturing, which are ideally suited to the process of using the hydraulic press to create sculptural jewellery.
By the end of the course, you will have experimented with roller mill metal texturing using a range of materials, learnt to use the hydraulic press, have finished one or two items of jewellery and be inspired to have a more sculptural approach to jewellery construction.

Bead and Threading for Jewellery
9th January 2026
This course will teach you various methods of stringing beads, as well as demonstrate the technique of pearl knotting for necklaces and bracelets. There will also be instruction on attaching catches securely and neatly, and how to use steel cable, crimps and wire protectors successfully with heavier beads.
You should attend with a selection of your own beads and catches, which you would like to use for the days instruction. The college will supply threading equipment on the day and a selection of threading silks, needles and cable, but you are encouraged to bring in any additional threads specific to your beads.
